Primary text

If one swears by God, 'I will not wear anything' (*la albasu shay'an*), wearing a shirt, turban (*'imamah*), skullcap (*qulansuwwah*), coat of mail (*dir'un*), gambeson (*jawshan*), slipper (*khuff*), or sandal (*ni'al*) results in breaking the oath, as these items are all things worn according to custom and reality, analogous to standard clothing.

Supporting text

Regarding slippers and sandals, two opinions exist among the Shafi'i scholars; one opinion states that wearing them does not break the oath.
