What types of material are permissible for clothing the dependents?

Primary text
It is permissible to clothe dependents with any category of clothing, including cotton, linen, wool, hair (animal hair), camel/goat hair (wabara), Khazz (a type of fine wool/fur), and silk. This permissibility stems from the command of Allah (Exalted is He) to clothe them without specifying a particular material. Fulfilling the requirement of providing clothing from any material suffices to discharge the obligation. The clothing can be new or worn, provided it has not become so worn out that its utility is lost, as that would render it defective, analogous to defective grain or a slave whose utility is nullified.
