Primary text

Intention is defined as the heart's resolve and purpose to perform an act without hesitation. If a person contemplates during the night that tomorrow is Ramadan and resolves to fast, the intention is valid. This view is held by scholars whose collective opinion is that the intention must be a firm commitment following knowledge or certainty.
