Primary text

The fast is not broken by the ingress of substances due to lack of intent. This includes dust entering the throat from the road, flour dust, an insect entering the throat, water entering the ears or nose due to spraying, water that reaches the stomach if something is thrown into water, water preceding the throat during rinsing, or anything poured into the throat or nose under compulsion. Furthermore, non-consensual treatment of a wound or a cavity, involuntary cupping (hijama), or involuntary contact leading to seminal emission does not invalidate the fast. This ruling is established without known disagreement, because there is no act attributable to the fasting person, analogous to a wet dream (ihtilam).
