Does kissing and sucking the tongue of one's spouse while fasting break the fast?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Fasting
Primary text
It is permissible for a fasting person to kiss their spouse and suck their tongue. The primary justification is that the moisture transferred is not confirmed to have separated and reached the throat for swallowing, making it similar to leaving a moistened pebble in the mouth or rinsing the mouth and then spitting it out. This is further supported by the narration concerning Aisha (may Allah be pleased to have her), though the authenticity of the specific wording about sucking the tongue is debated among hadith scholars.
Supporting text
It is contended that the narration regarding the Prophet (peace be upon him) kissing his wife and sucking her tongue while fasting is not authentic according to Abu Dawud. Alternatively, it is suggested that the kissing occurred during the fast while the sucking of the tongue occurred outside of the fast, or that he sucked it but did not swallow the moisture.
