The pre-dawn meal (Suhur) is recommended, and there is no known disagreement among scholars on this matter. Evidence supporting this includes the Prophet's saying, "Take Suhur, for in Suhur there is blessing," which is agreed upon (Muttafaqun Alayh). Another hadith states that the distinction between our fasting and that of the People of the Book is the consumption of Suhur, narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Tirmidhi. Furthermore, it is reported that the Prophet called it the "blessed meal" (ghada' al-mubarak) and that Allah and His angels send blessings upon those who take Suhur, even if it is merely a sip of water.
