What is the required number of days for making up a missed day of fasting in Qada'?

Primary text
The obligation for making up each missed day of fasting is one day, according to the general opinion of the jurists. The basis for this ruling is the verse of Allah the Almighty, "...then [a number of] other days [equal to the missed days]." (Quran 2:184). Furthermore, the Prophet, peace be upon him, stated in the incident of sexual intercourse during a fast, "Fast one day in its place." (Reported by Abu Dawud). The making up (Qada') must correspond to the act performed (Ada'), as is the case in other acts of worship, and the make-up requirement does not differ based on the presence or absence of an excuse, as seen in prayer and Hajj. Any other estimation without textual evidence or consensus is merely arbitrary speculation.

Ibrahim and Wakee' stated that three thousand days must be fasted. Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib stated that one who intentionally breaks the fast for a day must fast a month. Rabi'ah stated that twelve days are obligatory in place of every missed day because Ramadan suffices for the entire year, which consists of twelve months.
