Rinsing the mouth does not break the fast without disagreement, whether done for purification or other reasons. Evidence is derived from a rhetorical question posed by the Prophet, peace be upon him, to Umar regarding rinsing the mouth while fasting, to which the implied answer was that it is permissible. Furthermore, the mouth is considered an apparent area, and reaching it with water does not invalidate the fast, similar to the nose and eye.
