What is the ruling for a man afflicted with an overpowering sexual desire he cannot control, fearing harm to himself?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Fasting
Primary text
A man who experiences an overwhelming sexual desire which he cannot control, fearing physical harm to himself, is permitted to break the fast and must feed one poor person for each day. This allowance is granted because he fears for his life, placing him in the same category as the ill person. This feeding is an alternative payment required when the individual despairs of being able to complete the fast later.
Supporting text
If he anticipates the possibility of making up the fast, no expiation is due; rather, he must wait and perform the fast when able.
