Primary text

Each spouse is governed by the ruling pertaining to their individual state. If both spouses were excused, their ruling is as described previously, regardless of whether their excuses ceased simultaneously (e.g., both arriving from travel) or sequentially (e.g., the husband arriving from travel and the wife completing her menstruation).

Supporting text

It is narrated that Jabir ibn Yazid arrived from travel and found his wife purified from menstruation, and he proceeded to have intercourse with her.
