What is the ruling if a person withdraws immediately upon the first appearance of dawn while still in the act of intercourse?

Primary text

If withdrawal occurs immediately at the beginning of dawn, both Ibn Hamid and Al-Qadi rule that the expiation (Kaffarah) is obligatory. This is because the withdrawal itself is considered an act of intercourse that involves pleasure, thus attracting the same consequences as continuous intercourse, similar to penetration.

Supporting text

Abu Hafs holds that neither making up the fast nor expiation is required. This aligns with the view of Abu Hanifa and Al-Shafi'i, arguing that since the intercourse ceased, the consequences of continued intercourse do not apply, similar to someone who swore not to enter a house and then exited it while already inside. Malik states that the fast is invalidated, but no expiation is due, likening the situation to a person under compulsion who could not do otherwise.
