What is the ruling regarding affording food to a fasting person to break their fast?

It is recommended to feed a fasting person to break their fast. This is established by the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him, narrated by Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani: "Whoever feeds a fasting person to break their fast shall have a reward like his, without diminishing the reward of the fasting person in the slightest." Al-Tirmidhi deemed this hadith as Hasan Sahih (good and authentic).
