Primary text
Making up the fast is obligatory upon one who breaks it with any of the mentioned actions. There is no known disagreement on this matter. This is because the obligation of fasting was established against the individual (fi al-dhimma), and it is only discharged by performing it. Since it was not performed, the obligation remains. The ruling is that there is no Kaffarah (expiation) for any of the mentioned actions, according to the apparent position of the Madhhab. This view is held by Sa'id ibn Jubayr, Al-Nakha'i, Ibn Sirin, Hammad, and Al-Shafi'i.
