Is sexual intercourse with an animal subject to Kaffarah (expiation)?

Primary text

Sexual intercourse with an animal necessitates Kaffarah. This is deduced because it is sexual intercourse that necessitates Ghusl (ritual bath) and invalidates the fast, thus resembling intercourse with a human being. The ruling is the same whether the animal involved is a spouse, a non-mahram animal, or one of legal age or a minor. If it necessitates Kaffarah with a spouse, it is more certainly established for intercourse with a non-mahram animal.

Supporting text

There is an alternative view stating that Kaffarah is not obligatory in this case because there is no explicit text addressing it, nor does it fall under the category of what is explicitly mentioned by text. Furthermore, it differs from intercourse with a human being in that one narration states it does not necessitate a prescribed legal punishment (Hadd).
