Primary text

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was permitted to practice continuous fasting because he was uniquely sustained spiritually by Allah, as indicated by his statement, "Indeed, I am not like you; I am fed and given drink," or "My Lord feeds me and gives me to drink." This spiritual sustenance exempted him from the worldly need for food and drink that others possess.
