Does vomiting or tasting blood cause fasting to be invalidated?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Fasting
Primary text
If a fasting person tastes blood that has flowed into their mouth or brings up vomit (qalas or qay'), and then swallows it, the fast is broken, even if the amount is minor. This is because the mouth is considered as the apparent exterior, and the ruling principle is that anything reaching the interior invalidates the fast. However, saliva is excused because complete avoidance is impossible. Everything else remains subject to the original ruling.
