Status of non-Muslim resident aliens (Musta'minun) who aid rebels (Ahl al-Baghy)

If resident aliens aid the rebels, they breach their covenant and assume the status of people of war. This occurs because they abandon the condition of ceasing hostility against Muslims. If they provided aid under compulsion, their covenant remains valid due to the excuse of duress. If they claim compulsion, their statement is not accepted without supporting evidence, as the default position is the absence of compulsion.
