If the husband divorces her, she observes the waiting period of a free woman because the waiting period for divorce is a right of the husband, evidenced by it not being obligatory except upon consummation, and its cause is the preceding marriage; thus, her statement diminishing it is not accepted.

If the husband dies, she observes the waiting period of a slave because the right of God Almighty is predominant therein, evidenced by its obligation even before consummation, thus her statement regarding it is accepted.
