The format of the two Eid sermons resembles that of the Jumu'ah sermon, but the first is opened with nine consecutive takbeers, and the second is opened with seven consecutive takbeers. It is also recommended to increase the number of takbeers throughout the sermon, and those praying behind the Imam should repeat these takbeers.

Al-Qadi suggested that inserting *Tahleel* (La ilaha illallah) or other remembrances between the takbeers is good. Abu Musa reportedly performed forty-two takbeers in total and sat between the two sermons.
