Primary text

If the Friday prayer is advanced and performed within the time slot of the Eid prayer, the first of the two prayers suffices for both Eid and Dhuhr. This ruling applies according to the narration concerning Ibn Az-Zubayr, who gathered for Eid and Friday on the same day and prayed both as two rak'ahs in the morning, not adding anything until after Asr. Ibn Abbas confirmed that Ibn Az-Zubayr acted correctly according to the Sunnah. This allowance is interpreted to mean that Ibn Az-Zubayr performed the Friday prayer before Dhuhr (Zawal), thereby nullifying the requirement for Eid and Dhuhr. Since Friday, despite its confirmed status, can be waived by Eid (if Eid is performed first), Eid is more likely to be waived by Friday when Friday is advanced.

Supporting text

If the Eid prayer is advanced, the person still needs to perform the Dhuhr prayer in its proper time, provided they did not perform the Friday prayer.
