Primary text

Those upon whom Jumu'ah is not obligatory have no requirement for the Ghusl of Jumu'ah. This applies to women, children, travelers, and the sick. The reasoning is that the command is contingent upon attending Jumu'ah, and the purpose is purification and removing odor so as not to cause discomfort to others, which is specific to those who attend Jumu'ah.

Supporting text

Some companions like Ibn Umar and 'Alqamah did not perform Ghusl while traveling, perhaps relying on general narrations. If someone upon whom Jumu'ah is not obligatory attends, the Ghusl is recommended for them based on the general narrations and the existence of the underlying reason (cleanliness).
