Is Islam, sanity, and masculinity prerequisites for the obligation and validity of Friday prayer?

Islam and sanity are unconditionally required for the obligation and validity of Friday prayer because they are prerequisites for legal responsibility (*taklīf*) and the validity of purely devotional acts. Masculinity is also required for the obligation and validity of Friday prayer, as it is a gathering for men. Women are not generally obligated to attend gatherings of men, although their prayer in congregation is valid, as women used to pray in congregation with the Prophet (peace be upon him).
