Primary text

It is not permissible to give charity to a beggar while the Imam is delivering the sermon. This prohibition stems from the fact that the beggar is performing a forbidden act by begging during the sermon, and one should not assist in a forbidden act. Ahmad found it preferable if someone were to scatter the charity instead of handing it directly to the beggar during the sermon. This is based on the action of Ibn Umar, who scattered charity to a beggar who was asking while the Imam was delivering the Friday Khutbah.

Supporting text

If a person accepts charity from someone else to give to the beggar while the Imam is delivering the sermon, it is not permissible for that person to accept it for this purpose.
