Is it permissible for a person to intentionally perform the Eid prayer at its specified time if they fear others might follow their example?

It is feared that if a man intentionally performs the Eid prayer at the appointed time, some who see him will follow him, implying that he should not pray it. Ahmad disliked one deliberately making up a prayer if he feared others would follow his example in doing so.
