Is it permissible for someone other than the preacher to lead the prayer if a valid excuse exists?

If a person delivers the sermon and another leads the prayer due to a valid excuse ('udhr), the prayer is valid. This position has been explicitly stated by Ahmad. This is analogous to permitting substitution in the prayer itself, making it even more permissible when the sermon has already been delivered.
