It is recommended for the preacher to lean on a bow, a sword, or a staff. This practice was observed by the Prophet, peace be upon him, when he stood leaning on a staff or bow while offering brief, blessed praises to Allah. If he does not lean on an object, it is recommended that he keeps his limbs still, either by placing his right hand over his left or letting both hands hang quietly beside his flanks.
