Is minor ritual purity (Wudu) a condition for delivering the sermon?

Primary text
Minor ritual purity (Wudu) is not a required condition for delivering the sermon. This is because the sermon is a form of remembrance (Dhikr) that precedes the prayer, and purity is not a precondition for the Adhan (call to prayer), which shares a similar position. However, it is recommended (Mustahabb) that the speaker be pure from minor impurity and physical defilement. This recommendation is derived because the Prophet (peace be upon him) would pray immediately after the sermon without an intervening purification, indicating he was in a state of purity. Following his practice is a Sunnah. Furthermore, if the speaker lacked Wudu, purification would be required between the sermon and the prayer, causing unnecessary separation and lengthening the proceedings for the attendees.
