Is prayer disliked (makruh) in an enclosed booth (maqsurah) that is reserved or guarded?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
Prayer in a guarded or reserved Maqsurah is disliked, according to Ahmad. Ibn Umar followed this practice, leaving the Maqsurah when prayer time arrived. Al-Ahnaf, Ibn Muhayriz, Al-Sha'bi, and Ishaq also disliked it. The basis for this dislike is that the guarded Maqsurah prevents people from praying in it, making it akin to usurped property (maghsūb).

Rukhsah (permissibility) was granted for praying in it by Anas, Al-Hasan, Al-Husayn, Al-Qasim, Salim, and Nafi', because it remains a part of the main mosque structure, thus not disliked like the rest of the mosque.
