Is the prayer valid if a person joins the Imam for one Rak'ah of Jumu'ah, is then separated and becomes solitary for the second Rak'ah, and intends to complete it as an individual prayer?

Primary text

The default position of the school dictates that the prayer must be completed as Jumu'ah. This is because attaining one Rak'ah with the Imam establishes the connection to Jumu'ah, allowing the remainder to be completed as such, similar to one who catches the second Rak'ah.

Supporting text

If the worshipper does not intend to pray individually but completes the remainder following the Imam, there are two narrations. One holds that it is invalid because the worshipper is solitary for a complete Rak'ah, resembling one who does this intentionally. The second narration holds that it is valid because dispensation is granted to overlook completing all prerequisites when building upon an initial part, similar to cases where the prescribed time expires after one Rak'ah, or for one who missed the first Rak'ah and completes one alone.
