What is the reason for the Prophet's sitting between the two sermons?

The sitting of the Prophet, peace be upon him, between the two sermons was for the purpose of rest, thus it is not obligatory like the first sitting, but rather recommended.
Supporting text
It is reported that Ishaq saw Ali delivering the sermon from the *minbar* (pulpit) and he did not sit until he finished.
