What is recited between the additional takbeers during the standing portion of Eid prayer?
Chapter on the Two Eid Prayers
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
Between each set of takbeers, one should praise Allah, send blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, and recite the supplication found in the established narrations. The preferred supplication mentioned is: 'Allahu Akbar Kabeera, wa al-hamdu lillahi katheeran, wa subhan-Allahi bukratan wa aseela, wa sallallahu 'ala Muhammadin an-nabiyyi al-ummi wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallam' (Allah is the Greatest, much praise is due to Allah, Glory be to Allah morning and evening, and peace and blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad the unlettered Prophet and upon his family and companions). The supplication can be varied or limited to any permissible remembrance.

Abu Hanifa and Malik opposed this, arguing that if a specific remembrance were mandated, it would have been narrated clearly like the takbeers themselves, and that the takbeers should be consecutive like those in bowing or prostration. This is refuted by the narration from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, Abu Musa, and Hudhayfah detailing the recitation of praise and blessings between the takbeers.
