Primary text

The time for the Ghusl begins after the rising of the dawn (Fajr). If one bathes after that time, it suffices, but bathing before dawn is insufficient. If one performs Ghusl and then invalidates their minor ritual purity (Hadath Asghar), the Ghusl suffices, and only ablution (Wudu') is required afterward. This is the view of Mujahid, al-Hasan, Malik, al-Awza'i, and al-Shafi'i.

Supporting text

Al-Awza'i narrated a view that Ghusl before dawn suffices. Malik stated that the Ghusl is insufficient unless followed by proceeding to the mosque.
