What is the recommended level of effort concerning good deeds during the first ten days?
Chapter on the Two Eid Prayers
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
It is recommended to strive hard in acts of goodness during the ten days, including remembrance (*Dhikr*), prayer, fasting, charity, and all other righteous deeds. This is supported by the report from Ibn Abbas, where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stated that no deeds are better than those done in these days. When asked if even Jihad in the path of Allah was inferior, the Prophet replied in the affirmative, except for a man who risked his life and wealth in Jihad and returned with nothing. This hadith is recorded by Al-Bukhari.
