It is Sunnah for the Imam to deliver the sermon standing. If the Imam preaches while seated, there is no harm, as the sermon is not obligatory, analogous to voluntary prayer. Preaching while mounted on an animal is also considered good, as reported from 'Ali and 'Uthman.
