What is the ruling concerning walking barefoot to prayer?

It is permissible, and perhaps recommended, to walk barefoot to Jumu'ah prayer. This is based on the narration that some Companions walked barefoot, citing the Prophet's saying: "Whoever has dust settle upon his feet in the cause of Allah, Allah will prohibit those feet from the Fire."
