What is the ruling on omitting or forgetting the additional Eid takbeers?

The additional takbeers and the remembrance between them are Sunnah, not obligatory. The prayer is not invalidated by omitting them, whether intentionally or by forgetfulness. If one forgets the takbeer and begins recitation, one does not return to it. This is because the omission is of a Sunnah, similar to omitting the *Istiftah*.

A second opinion allows returning to the takbeer if forgotten, as it is a remembrance whose place is during the standing position, and one should cut the recitation and resume it afterward. If forgotten until bowing, the opportunity is missed, and the takbeer is dropped without return. The same applies to a latecomer who joins the bowing.
