What is the ruling if one is obstructed from Sujud in the second Rak'ah?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
If the obstruction in the second Rak'ah's Sujud clears before the Imam's final Taslim, the follower performs Sujud and follows the Imam, and the Rak'ah is validated. If the obstruction remains until after the Imam's Taslim, the follower must check if they managed to perform the first Rak'ah. If the first Rak'ah was performed, the Friday prayer obligation is fulfilled by attaining that first Rak'ah; the follower then performs the second Sujud after the Imam's Taslim, performs the Tashahhud, and concludes the prayer. If the first Rak'ah was not attained, the follower performs Sujud after the Imam's Taslim, and the Rak'ah is validated. There are two narrations regarding whether this constitutes attaining the Jumu'ah prayer.
