Continuity (Muwalah) is a condition for the validity of the sermon. If the sermon is interrupted by lengthy speech, lengthy silence, or anything else that severs the continuity, the sermon must be restarted. The standard for determining whether the separation is lengthy or short is based on common practice (custom, 'adah).
