Primary text

For one whose dwelling is far such that he cannot reach the Jumu'ah prayer by hastening at the time of the call, the obligation is to hasten at the time that enables him to reach the prayer. This is because Jumu'ah is obligatory, and hastening before the call becomes a necessity for achieving the obligatory act; what is necessary for an obligation to be fulfilled is itself obligatory, similar to drawing water for Wudu when no other means exist.
