General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
Abdullah ibn Salam and Tawus stated that the accepted hour is the last hour of the day on Friday. Anas reported from the Prophet that the hour sought on Friday is after the Asr prayer until the sun sets. Another opinion, supported by a narration from Abu Musa, is that the hour is between when the Imam sits down until the prayer is concluded. Based on this, the hour would vary for every people according to their prayer time. Furthermore, it is said to be between dawn until sunrise, and from Asr until sunset, or the third hour of the day.

It is also opined that Allah concealed this hour so that His servants may strive in supplication throughout the entire day seeking it, similar to how the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr) is concealed within the nights of Ramadan, and His saints are concealed within creation, encouraging good assumptions about all righteous individuals.
