Is supplication encouraged on Friday?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Friday Prayer
Primary text
It is recommended to make abundant supplications on Friday, as there is an hour during which any believing servant praying and asking Allah for something will be granted it. The Prophet, peace be upon him, indicated this hour by minimizing his hand gestures, and in another narration, he specified that the person must be standing in prayer. This is supported by consensus (Muttafaqun 'alayh).

There is a difference of opinion regarding the precise timing of this accepted hour. Abdullah ibn Salam and Tawus held that it is the last hour of the day. Ibn Salam interpreted the required prayer as awaiting this hour. A narration from Ibn Salam indicates the Prophet pointed to a portion of an hour, and it was explained that the believing servant awaiting prayer after praying is considered to be in prayer, as implied by Quran 3:75 concerning maintaining a debt.
