Is an already deceased person's stomach to be opened if they swallowed their own property?
General Chapter
Al-Mughni
Book of Funerals
Primary text
If the deceased swallowed their own property, the stomach is not to be opened if the property was consumed during their lifetime. If the property is deemed substantial in value, the stomach is opened to recover it, as this preserves the wealth from loss and benefits the heirs whose rights are tied to the deceased's estate, especially concerning wealth accumulated during illness. This ruling is supported by the principle of protecting the property and benefiting the heirs.
Supporting text
If the swallowed property is deemed minor, it may be left untouched.
