Which claimant has precedence for burial in a public, endowed graveyard?

Precedence for burial in a public, endowed graveyard (*maqbara musbala*) is given to the one who arrived first. This principle applies analogously to disputes over spaces in public markets or the courtyards of mosques. If both claimants arrive simultaneously, lots (*iqra'*) shall be cast between them to determine the right.
