Is the completion of the Salam (salutation) in the funeral prayer an essential part (Rukn) of the prayer?

The Salam is a fundamental pillar (Rukn) of the funeral prayer, and the prayer is not considered complete without it. Therefore, the family of the first deceased is not permitted to lift the body before the Imam delivers the Salam.
