Is exceeding three layers of burial shrouds permissible?
General Chapter

Primary text
It is disliked (Makruh) to exceed three layers of shrouds due to the wastefulness involved, which the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade. Furthermore, leaving any of the deceased's wealth with them unnecessarily is forbidden based on the previous prohibition, unless it is something similar to what was narrated concerning the Prophet (peace be upon him) leaving a simple mat (Qatifa) under him in his grave; leaving something similar to this is permissible.
