Is it permissible to place items for comfort inside the grave?

A cushion or pillow (*mikhaddah*) should not be placed in the grave. However, a red woolen cloak (*qatifa hamra'*) was placed in the grave of the Prophet (peace be upon him); therefore, using a cloak is permissible.
