Is it permissible to wish for death due to affliction?

A person must not wish for death due to an affliction that has befallen them. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stated: "None of you should wish for death due to an affliction that has befallen him, but he should say: 'O Allah, grant me life if life is better for me, and cause me to die if death is better for me.'" Al-Tirmidhi graded this Hadith as Hassan Sahih (good and authentic).
