Primary text
It is recommended for companions to remain near the grave after burial for a duration sufficient to slaughter a camel and distribute its meat, for the purpose of providing companionship and solace to the deceased. This is supported by the instruction given by Amr ibn Al-As upon his death, wherein he requested his companions to sit with him at his grave for that specific duration so that he might feel companionship.
