The stronger opinion holds that analogy (Qiyas) with the times after Fajr and Asr is invalid because the duration of the midday and sunrise/sunset prohibitions is brief. The reasoning for prohibiting prayer during the times after Fajr and Asr is often related to fear for the deceased; however, in the case of the sunrise/midday/sunset prohibitions, waiting for the time to pass is manageable, unlike the longer periods associated with post-Fajr and post-Asr. Thus, the explicit narration regarding these three times prevails.
