Burial in a coffin (*tabut*) is not recommended because it is not transmitted from the Prophet, peace be upon him, or his Companions. It also involves imitation of worldly people, and the earth itself is better at absorbing bodily fluids. Baked brick (*ajur*) is disliked because it is associated with the construction of the affluent, and generally, anything touched by fire is disliked based on the hopeful interpretation that the deceased will not be touched by fire.
